Overnight Cavity or Gum Push

I remember checking my teeth out in the bathroom mirror in early August, and thinking they were looking good, the whitening toothpaste was really doing its job. I then discovered on waking up one morning that I had an apparent cavity on my 1st Bicuspid / premolar, that I hadn’t seen only a few days earlier when I had been quite impressed with the whitening toothpaste effect on my teeth. On 9 August 2023 I emailed my dentist to say I had a cavity, and I think perhaps it had been filled in before and the filling may have fallen out, as I couldn’t suppose how one would appear overnight when I’d been scrutinising my teeth only days earlier. The dentist booked me an appointment for 3rd September to have the cavity filled. Unfortunately on the night of the 3rd September the abusers tortured me severely, keeping me awake remotely and not letting me sleep, as a result of which I had only gotten two and a half hours sleep. I explained to the dentist that they did this habitually to a greater degree when I have an appointment the following day, in the hopes that the abuse will have a negative ripple effect on my environment, such as rendering me less effective in dealing with people. Of course I wanted to attend as I myself had booked the appointment, but couldn’t as I would too tired from the forced sleep deprivation.

The dentist didn’t reply, and I didn’t contact them again for a little while, maybe because I was embarrassed at having to miss the appointment, or maybe giving them time to read the links to my Dropbox folder and website about abuse which I included in the email cancelling the appointment. I eventually got back in touch with them on 17 September and requested another appointment, and they scheduled me one for 19 September. They advised me that if I missed the appointment they wouldn’t be able to offer me any more appointments. I managed to attend the appointment and they filled the filling but nothing more than that, no clean and polish or anything like that, only filled the filling. I asked them if I’d had a filling there before and they said they had no record of it, and they couldn’t say for any other practice I may have had it done with, as the records don’t carry over when you change dentists (I’ve only been with this dentist for a year or two, but that’s another story).

I was happy enough with that, and they confirmed that my full dental check-up is due in three months. On returning home I looked in the mirror and considered that, comparing it with the other side, I observed that it was likely that the gum had previously been below the gum line, rather than that there had been a cavity in the tooth. I wondered how my gum would have slipped below the gum line, resulting in me thinking I had a cavity due to the brown tooth previously covered by gum. I wondered whether maybe if I had left it that way it may have grown back up to the normal level and covered up the brown bit. I noticed that the equivalent tooth on the other side had a raised gum still, and was now asymmetrical to the one I had filled in. Most of all I wondered how the gum line of the tooth I thought had a cavity had been dislodged / pushed below the tooth to begin with, to expose the brown tooth below and make me think I had a cavity; particularly when I had only nights before discovering this been admiring my teeth in the mirror and the effectiveness of the whitening toothpaste I had recently begun using. I became concerned that in getting a filling I may have done something detrimental to my teeth because I've blocked the gum from growing back up.

I sent an email to my dentist today expressing these concerns. I told her I can provide pictures if she wishes, but maybe she will be able to advise me from memory as it was only a week and a half ago. She hasn’t yet replied, but I will wait to see what she says. I took what pictures I could, some are a bit blurry but I did my best; I didn’t expect to create a blog post about it or I’d have taken more care. However I think the issue is still visible enough from the pictures. I am considering going to a private dentist for a dental makeover and Hollywood smile, as I can’t seem to get healthy enough looking teeth with my regular NHS dentist, my gum line seems to be falling for no particular reason, and if I’m going to have to pay for better treatment I may as well go the whole way with it.
